Landis Valley Harvest Days 2024

El Landis Valley Harvest Days will take place on October 12-13, 2024, at the Landis Valley Village & Farm Museum in Lancaster, PA. Known as the museum’s oldest and largest annual event, Harvest Days is a family-friendly festival that celebrates Pennsylvania German heritage and rural traditions.

Visitors can enjoy live demonstrations such as apple butter making, hearth cooking, and traditional crafts like weaving and blacksmithing. There will also be a variety of children’s activities, including pumpkin picking and decorating, alongside opportunities to taste heirloom varieties of apples and other local foods.

The festival’s origins are rooted in the Landis brothers’ dedication to preserving the region’s culture. Henry K. and George Landis began collecting artifacts in the early 20th century, turning their family farm into an informal museum.

Over the years, this collection evolved into the Landis Valley Museum, now one of the foremost sites for Pennsylvania German folk culture. The museum offers a glimpse into 18th and 19th-century farming life, with original buildings, exhibits, and hands-on educational programs.
